Beginning in May 2024, senior citizens in the US will be qualified to receive twice the direct payments offered by the SSI and SSDI with assistance from the Social Security Administration (SSA). The Cost-of-Living Adjustments (COLA) are used to measure national inflation and determine SSDI and SSI payouts. An rise in COLA of 3.2% in 2024 resulted in an increase in the payout levels for SSI and SSDI.
The increase in benefits offered by the SSI and SSDI payment programs has benefited about 7.5 million people in the United States. Benefits from SSDI and SSI will increase by $200 for single claimants and $422 for couples by 2024. When the federal government announces the $200 COLA Increase in 2024, you might be eligible to receive two SSI checks in May of that same year.
