Applications from ITI-qualified applicants are being welcomed online to recruit Act Apprentices to acquire trade training at various Central Railway workshops and units. Aspirants can apply online for 2424 opportunities. All applications must be submitted online between July 16, 2024, and August 15, 2024.
The Railway Recruitment Cell of Central Railway conducts direct recruitment for Apprentices in various trades such as Fitter, Welder, Painter, Carpenter, Tailor, Electrician, Machinist, Programming & Systems Administration Assistant, Mechanic Diesel, Turner, Instrument Mechanic, Lab Assistant, Sheet Metal Worker, Computer Operator, and Programming Assistant.

Educational Qualification
Candidates must have passed the tenth-grade examination or its equivalent (under the 10+2 examination system) with at least 50% aggregate from a recognized board. Additionally, candidates must have a National Trade Certificate in the notified trade granted by the National Council for Vocational Training (NCVT) or the State Council for Vocational Training (SCVT).
Age Limit
Candidates should be between 15 and 24 years old as of July 15, 2024. Age relaxation is applicable according to the rules:
- SC/ST: five years.
- OBC: Three years.
- Persons with Disabilities (PWD): 10 years
- Ex-Servicemen: The upper age limit is reduced by up to ten years.
The Selection Process
Candidates will be chosen based on a merit list compiled from the percentage of marks earned in matriculation and ITI. The merit list will be created by averaging the marks obtained in the tenth grade and ITI. In a tie, the older candidate will be given preference. If the ages are the same, the candidate who passed the matriculation exam before shall be considered.
Training Period and Stipend
Selected apprentices will go through a one-year training cycle. During this time, they will be paid a stipend at the rates authorized by the Railway Board. The stipend consists of an initial payment, followed by a 10% rise in the second year and 15% in the third year.
