Apple, which debuted its newest MacBook laptops in early March, experienced the most rise in the months that followed. According to tech market research firm IDC, worldwide shipments of personal computers increased by 3% in the second quarter of 2024.
With China excluded, which continues to hinder the global IT upswing, PC sales globally increased even more in the three months that concluded on June 30, reaching 5%, according to IDC.
Factor Responsible for Growth
Two factors are responsible for this development, according to the analysis:
- First off, there’s been a rise in demand for computers that can process artificial intelligence (AI). An example of computer technology with human-like intelligence is artificial intelligence (AI). Businesses and consumers are starting to demand machines that can run these potent new apps as a result.
- Businesses upgrading their outdated PCs is another factor contributing to the increase in PC sales. During the epidemic, many businesses avoided purchasing new computers; nevertheless, these enterprises are now beginning to replace their hardware.
Other Company Performance
Apple outperformed the other computer firms, increasing its sales of Macs by 20.8% in comparison to the previous year. Acer Group fared well as well, seeing a 13.7% increase in revenues. When comparing the top computer manufacturers, Lenovo continues to hold the largest market share (22.7%). At 21.1%, HP is right behind them. Despite a slight decline in sales, Dell Technologies currently holds a 15.5% market share.
It’s crucial to remember that not everywhere is seeing this expansion. The whole market is being held back by the continued weakness of sales in China.
